Symbols of Niwic
Our flag was designed by Doyle Bruce of Daddyland, and there are four in existence--one in each of the 4 original provinces. The background of the flag depicts wildlife, and people camping and fishing. This is to symbolise the enjoyment of the Niwicans in camping, fishing, and observing wildlife. The four-pointed star symbolises the four original provinces, as do the four bands of colour around the flag. The orange is for Benjaland, black for Daddyland, blue for Tatooine, and green for Wuutsabaya. The flag was adopted by Act of Parliament at the meeting in December 2002.
Our National Seal and Coat-of-arms
The National Coat of Arms of our nation was designed by Benjamin Bruce of Benjaland. The National Seal is actually just the arms encircled by a yellow band that says "THE GREAT SEAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF NIWIC" and "DECEMBER 28th 2002". The shield was modeled after the flag, with the four provincial colours and the 4-pointed star. The crest is a skunk (the National mammal) above an orange-and-black headband, which represents Benjaland, the nation that came before Niwic . The two pine branches below the crest represent the enjoyment of the Niwicans in exploring the wilderness of Terabithia, Gardenthia. The two supporters are a deer and a buffalo, representing the enjoyment of Niwicans in observing wildlife. Below the shield, a red banner with the words "UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL" (the National motto) appears.
Our National Anthem is "United We Stand", written by Benjamin Bruce. This is the second national anthem Niwic has had, and very soon there will be a contest for a new one. If you are good at writing songs, please enter the contest. Here are the lyrics to "United We Stand":
Our National Mammal is the skunk, from the meaning of the Wichita word "niwi:c", from which the name "Niwic" came. Doyle Bruce was the one who suggested the name, and although to most Niwicans skunks have an unpleasant smell, the President, Benjamin Bruce, likes the smell of skunks.
Our National Bird is the Quail. The Quail Ridge in Annetta North, Texas, is where the Benjaland and Budington Counties of Benjaland are located, as well as the entire province of Daddyland. The Niwican Protectorate of Terabithia covers a part of the ridge as well. Although quail were once common in this area, today they are very rare.
