Presidential Election Coming Up! The Presidential Election is coming up on Union Day, December 28th! If you want to run in the election for president (or governor of Benjaland or Daddyland if you live there), go to the official election page on Niwic.net: National Anthem Contest At the October Parliamentary Meeting in Cement City (now Inaduh), the Parliament voted unanimously to have a contest for a new Niwican National Anthem. (Governor Smith and Governor McBroom were not present, but since the other three governors voted for a contest, the other two votes don't matter.) The current National Anthem, United We Stand, was written by Benjamin Bruce. Its music is not very good, so that is why a contest will be held. If you are good at music, and if you are a Niwican citizen, please write a song and enter it. Niwican Coins minted The Niwican Department of the Mint has already made some coins in preparation for the Currency Reform. 5 pence (sometimes called a "shilling") and 10 pence (sometimes called a "florin") coins have been made so far, and 25 pence and 50 pence coins will be made in the future. You can see pictures of the coins at the Mint webpage, niwic.net/ndm.html.

New Niwican Province! On October 30th, the Niwican Parliament met in what was Cement City (now Inaduh), the Capital of the Province of Vipers. Present was Keegan McCrady, and American. During the meeting, he decided to gain Niwican citizenship. He also decided to apply for a new Niwican province. He filled out the application before the meeting was over, and the parliament voted unanimously to accept the new province. It is located in Burleson, Texas, U.S.A., and is called the Province of Steel. Its capital is Tin. These names were just made up on the spur of the moment, and Governor McCrady said that he may change the names in the future. Cement City Renamed At the October Parliamentary meeting in what was Cement City, Province of Vipers, three-fifths of the Parliament voted to rename Cement City (the Capital of the Province of Vipers) as Inaduh (pronounced ee-nah-DUH). "Inadv" means "snake" in Cherokee. Since Vipers Governor McCoy is one-eighth Cherokee, and because the snake is the provincial reptile, this seemed like a good name. Also, the Parliament voted to make Inaduh the National Capital of Niwic. The old Capital is Ziphen, Benjaland, but since there is no room in Ziphen for the President's office, Inaduh seemed like a good choice since the President's Office has been moved there. |
